Redaction critics seek to discover the uniqueness and theological perspective of each Gospel by examining the ways each evangelist, as redactor/editor and theologian, handled the traditions that he inherited. Here scholars look for material that was added or omitted, how stories and events are arranged, the “seams” or transitions that connect them, changes in wording, the geographical setting and placement, and so forth.
